Frequently Asked Questions
1. Lifejackets. In accordance with British Rowing guidelines,
coxes should wear lifejackets at all times. The rest of the
crew don't need to wear them. Captains, please bring a lifejacket
for your crew as they will
not be provided by the organisers.
2. Water. Please bring a water bottle and fill it up at the
hotel and/or lunch stops. In order to minimise plastic waste,
we will not be providing water other than at lunch stops where we
know there is no supply.
3. Tools. Please bring 10mm and 13mm spanners for
rigging the boats on Friday morning and derigging on Sunday.
4. Water shoes - you will need water shoes with strong
soles for some of the lunch stops where the ground is stony.
5. Boats. The boats used on the tour are stable coxed
quad touring boats (also known as "Explore" boats). They have
footplates with straps, similar to those on ergo rowing machines, so
you will need to wear trainers in the boat. There is room in the boats for everyone to have a
small dry bag and water bottle.
6. Coxing. The cox's seat is wide enough for everyone
to sit in, and everyone is expected to take a turn at coxing.
7. Gala dinner dress code. Smart casual - blazer and club tie
(gents) if you have one, cocktail dress for ladies, but don't go
overboard!
8. We expect to finish at about 3 p.m. on the last day
(probably 4 p.m. for the group at Wroxham)
after loading the trailers and having lunch.
9. Parking. There is plenty of parking at the
Sprowston Hotel. The trailers will be parked at Lowestoft and Norwich
Rowing Clubs and Norfolk Broads Yacht Club, Wroxham.
Please note that there is NO PARKING at Yare Boat Club, which is on
an island.
