Frequently Asked Questions

1. Lifejackets. All coxes are required to wear lifejackets in the locks.  Please bring your own lifejacket as they will not be provided by the organisers.

2. Water.  Please bring a water bottle and fill it up at the hotel and/or lunch stops.  In order to minimise plastic waste, we will not be providing water other than at lunch stops where we know there is no supply.

3.  Tools.  Please bring a 10mm spanner for rigging the boats at Bablock Hythe on Thursday afternoon and derigging at Mapledurham on Sunday at the end of the tour.

4.  Boats.  The boats used on the tour are stable coxed quad touring boats (also known as "Explore" boats).  They have footplates with straps, similar to those on ergo rowing machines, so you will need to wear trainers in the boat. You will also need water shoes as some landing sites do not have pontoons so you will have to wade in the water. There is room in the boats for everyone to have a small dry bag and water bottle.

5.  Coxing.  The cox's seat is wide enough for everyone to sit in, and everyone is expected to take a turn at coxing.

6. Gala dinner dress code. Smart casual - blazer and club tie (gents) if you have one, cocktail dress for ladies, but don't go overboard!

7.  We expect to finish at about 3 p.m. on the last day after loading the trailers and having lunch.
