Steenwijk is a historical city in the province of Overijssel, Netherlands, that offers a glimpse into the past and a taste of the present. Steenwijk received city rights in 1327 and has preserved its old charm with its fortifications, canals, and monuments. You can explore the city's heritage at the Museum Steenwijk, the Church of Saint Clement, and the Town Hall. Steenwijk is also a great base for discovering the natural beauty of the region, such as the Weerribben-Wieden National Park, the Giethoorn village, and the Dwingelderveld National Park. Whether you are looking for culture, nature, or adventure, Steenwijk has something for everyone! Our rowing tour will allow us to explore some of the rivers, canals and lakes of this scenic area. How to get thereThe easiest way is to fly or take the Eurostart to Amsterdam and then a local train to Steenwijk. The journey takes approximately 2 hours and you will need to change trains at least once (e.g. in Utrecht). You will then need to take a taxi from the station to the hotel. AccommodationSingle or twin rooms at the Fletcher Hotel/Restaurant De Eese, De Bult (about 5 km from the centre of Steenwijk) Due to fluctuations in the exchange rate, we have not been able to calculate an inclusive price, so the initial payment only covers the accommodation and boat hire. All meals and taxis to and from the rowing club will be paid for locally in Euros. The RowingThe Rowing Club 't Diep will advise the best routes to take depending on the weather conditions on the day. There are NO LOCKS but a number of low bridges which will require us to duck underneath.
